Simplee gives patients the option to go paperless, or to receive only email bills instead of paper statements.
There are two ways a patient can sign up for paperless billing:
Self-service: After a patient completes a payment online, they will be shown the option to choose paperless. Once they select this option, and enter an email address, they will be sent a verification email. They must log in to their email and confirm their selection before their paper statements are stopped.
They can also sign up for paperless through the Notification Center. A full breakdown of this process can be found here.
By a back office user: To opt a patient in to paperless, go to the guarantor page and select "Paperless Subscriptions" under the “Subscriptions” section. First, the patient must have a valid email address saved to their account, which also has been verified. You can enter one by entering one of the "Email Alerts" tab. Then you can switch the status from "Off" to "On". The patient will receive an email verification, asking them to confirm they would like to go paperless. This is what it will look like in the Back Office:
What’s the difference between opting in to email alerts and opting in to paperless?
If a patient is only opted in to email, they will receive both emails and paper statements. If the patient would only like receive emails, they should switch the Paperless Subscription status to "On".
How does a patient resume receiving paper statements?
To start sending paper statements to a patient after they have already opted out, switch the Paperless Subscription back to "Off". The patient will begin receiving paper statements again on the next statement cycle.
Please note:
In order to receive Paperless Billing, the patient needs to be signed up for both, Email Alerts and Paperless Billing. If they switch off Email Alerts for the email on Paperless Billing - a warning message will appear to let them know they will be switching off Paperless Billing as well.
